Bahamas Cruise

Brian and I (along with my parents) had a nice little vacation on a cruise to the Bahamas and then to see more family in the Florida Keys. This post will be part 1: the cruise.

We sailed on Royal Caribbean's ship the Majesty of the Seas on a 3 night cruise.

We stopped in Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean's private island, and Nassau, Bahamas, home of Atlantis.

We enjoyed every moment.

We spent at least an hour, if not more, critiquing the shopping guide.

We at lots of soft serve ice cream.

We visited Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island for the first time.

Got a tour of the new Del Sol/Cariloha store/storage. And are jealous of their setup.

We saw comedian Don Friesen. He is HILARIOUS. Had us in stitches.

We learned of a song called the Cupid Shuffle. Fo shiz goin' on the Del Sol mix.

Had an awesome cruise director named Dave Chapman. If you get a chance to cruise with him, go.

He did this list of the top 10 questions asked. ie. How high above sea level are we? Does the crew sleep on the ship? HAHA.

My mom went searching for Conch shells. She found 3, but they all had Conch's in them still. Mike thought it was just a hermit crab camping out, but then it began to move. And then moved quicker. I shrieked. It was scary.

Glee Live Tour - Las Vegas

Remember that time we said we were big Gleeks? We went to see them last night!!!

It was amazing. Not just because we love Glee and it was so fun to see the cast in real life (which was very exciting), but the actual show (as far as concerts go) was really entertaining. I'm talking fireworks inside the arena, visual effects with their video screens, and an LED floor:

Oh yeah, as you can probably tell from those three pictures, we're loving our new camera. The 80-300mm lens is pretty dang awesome, and it let us get pics like these:

We also got some rather provocative and sexy pics of Brittany doing Britney Spears' Slave, but they're a bit too risque for our little PG blog. But that doesn't matter anyway, because to really appreciate Brittany, you need to see her dance. Because holy crap, she's an amazing dancer.

They sang all the favorites: Don't Stop Believing by Journey, Glee's original song Loser Like Me, Jay-Z's Empire State of Mind, and Queen's Somebody to Love, among lots and lots of others (you can shove a lot of 4 minute songs into 2 hours). Our favorite, and I think the whole crowd's favorite, was the Warbler's version of Pink's Raise Your Glass:

Another one of my favorite parts was Artie's Safety Dance. Because Artie is such a good dancer, like Mike Chang good. And it's a real shame that he's stuck in that wheelchair for the whole show.

Oh, maybe I should have warned you that this post was going to be one big pic explosion. I took LOTS of pictures. The ones that have made it to the post have actually already gone through two cuts.

Mercedes and the Girls

Another crowd favorite (no, seriously) was the boys' "unplugged" version of Rebecca Black's Friday:

I didn't even tell you. So, we're in Vegas just for a few days, and it just worked out that we could even go to this. The show's been sold out since it became available, and the tickets on StubHub were going for hundreds of dollars each, and we just couldn't justify spending that much. So we kept checking and the prices dropped dramatically day of the show. We ended up getting tickets less than 2 hours before the show for less than half of face value. Here's the crowd at the Events Center at Mandalay Bay:

Crazy thing was, the vast majority of the audience were 30-somethings. Not teenagers. We really didn't see that coming. Is that the demographic that Glee appeals to? I always thought they made the show for high schoolers. Right?

And then you know how at the end of Loser Like Me at regionals, they "slushie the crowd" with confetti? They did that at the end of this show too. It was pretty cool:

Overall, it was an extremely fun show. It was entertaining throughout, partly because the music was great, mostly because it was so cool to see all the characters in real life. If you like glee at all, you should get tickets to Glee Live 2011.

Loser Like Me and Glee

Isa and I are big fans of Glee.

They were shooting their season finale here in New York a few weeks ago, and although we didn't run into any of them, it was fun just knowing the whole cast was in town.

If you haven't seen it lately, you really should go over to Hulu and catch up. Here's a little sneak peak at one of their original songs (yeah, they don't just cover others any more!):

And when you're done with that, go find "Raise Your Glass" by the Warblers. It's super fun. Those two songs, plus "Christmas TV" from the blog player, have been playing over and over in our apartment. Yay.

Modeling and Music

Why, hello. I didn't see you there. Come in. Make yourself comfortable. Don't mind me, I'm just going to stand here and let you stare at my amazing biceps and washboard abs clean white shirt.

Isa's latest school project was to direct a photo shoot. She had to bring attention to a white shirt. She needed a model, and although there may be plenty of other options here in New York, she settled on chose me! What I think is amazing is how she was able to photoshop the background (below) completely out (above). What else is amazing is my Blue Steel impression:

We have to do the shoot again, and maybe then I'll do the Volleyball routine for you (it's a story to help us beginner models run through various poses). It's pretty epic.

And if you'd like to stare at me for a little longer, browse through the music player over there. Isa and I updated it and added lots of new material. Our two personal favorites are "Christmas TV" by Slow Club (if you watch Chuck on NBC, you'll know this song and you may begin to cry. I do - @1:30) and "I See the Light" by Mandy Moore and Chuck (Zachery Levi) from Tangled (which, if you haven't seen, you should buy it right now), which somehow also makes me teary-eyed with all the lanterns flying around. Man, I need to man-up or something. Football! Monster trucks! Yeah.

Bianca Merkley Concert Tonight!

Our friend, and amazingly talented, Bianca Merkley is playing a show tonight down in the village. And you should come. Even if you have other plans tonight. You should come anyway. She's awesome. She's like a hybrid mix between Regina Spektor (click the "Hotel Song" over there in the playlist) and Norah Jones. Her guitar skills are crisp and smooth.

She's playing at the Path Cafe on the corner of Christopher Street and Hudson down in the Village. There are two opening acts, and then she goes on at 10pm. It's a free show and it's in a cafe so you can get your grub on while you relax and listen to the fun tunes of Bianca Merkley: (kill the player up there first)
